Lighthouses and towers in Minorca

Cavalleria, the northest point of Minorca
Punta Nati (north)
"Ocean drive" (Lighthouse Family, 1995, click here for the video)
Say it's true, black and blue, I can share your situation
Been holding our emotions back, will only make us cry
If you go, I know, but you know, it ain't so serious anyway
When the clouds arise
we'll live on.. Ocean Drive
Don't know why you're so blue
The Sun's gonna shine on everything you do
and the sky is so blue
The Sun's gonna shine on everything you do
He left you black and blue, without a word of explanation
And he took your love for granted and he left you high and dry
But you know someday, when you'll wonder what you see in him anyway
When that day arrives
we'll live on.. Ocean Drive
Don't know why you're so blue
The Sun's gonna shine on everything you do
and the sky is so blue
The Sun's gonna shine on everything you do...

The bicycle chain fell down... Still a few kilometres to reach Cavalleria's lighthouse...

Minorca history

Minorca has a very English past and history...

English Rose (The Jam, 1977, click here for a live video)

No matter where I roam
I will return to my English rose
For no bonds can ever tempt me from she.
I’ve sailed the 7 seas,
Flown the whole blue sky.
But I’ve returned with haste, to where my
Love does lie.
No matter where I go
I will come back to my English rose
For nothing can ever tempt me from she.
I’ve searched the secret mists -
I’ve climbed the highest peaks
And caught the wild wind home
To hear her soft voice speak
No matter where I roam
I will return to my English rose
For no bonds can ever keep me from she.
I’ve been to ancient worlds
I’ve scoured the whole universe
And caught the first train home
To be at her side.
No matter where I roam
I will return to my English rose
For no bonds, nothing, no one, can ever keep me from she...

The English defeated the French at the "7-years-war" (1756-1763), and had back Minorca. From the English, houses, style, towers, elements in the language, and gin :) still remain in the island.

a walk around Minorca

The most beautiful disco in Europe, inside a cave.
If you're looking for fun and crazy discos, then go to Ibiza. In Minorca you can just have the best.
"Blue eyes blue"
Eric Clapton's got a house in Minorca (Noel Gallagher in Ibiza), and also Elton John's mum :)

"Change the world" (Eric Clapton, 1996, click here for the video)

If I could reach the stars, I'd pull one down for you
Shine it on my heart, so you could see the truth
That this love I have inside is everything it seems
But for now I find, it's only in my dreams
(chorus): That I can change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You will think my love was really something good
Baby if I could change the world...
If I could be King, even for a day
I'd take you as my Queen, I'd have it no other way
And our love will rule, in this kingdom we have made
Till then I'd be a fool, wishin' for the day
(chorus)
...Baby if I could change the world...
(guitar solo+chorus)
Baby if I could change the world...

MAYONNAISE IS NOT FRENCH
One of the main typical products in Minorca is the mayonnaise: it was not invented by the French, but by a cook in Minorca, who served it to plaintive French soldiers (in 18th century), who wanted quickly something to eat. The cook put some things together and so mayonnaise was born (the name comes from the capital of Minorca: Mahon->mahonesa, in Spanish language). The French then brought mayonnaise to France.
